In rural areas, the lack of accessibility to public transportation causes average travel time to key services almost twice as long as in urban areas. The creation of rural mobility hubs, or local centres that bring together public transport, technology, and a wide range of services in one place, could be a solution. Digital demand-responsive transport (DDRT) specifically could deal with a low volume of passengers who need the same access to services as city dwellers.
There are many transportation planning e-tools, but little is known about whether and how their characteristics and functionalities address older adults’ needs and preferences.
The Mobilaînés project aims to implement a MaaS e-tool to help older adults move around freely, in which older adults plan their trips and use routes adapted to their needs and preferences.
