TYRONE PILLAY'S PROSTHESIS STORY WITH TGR EUROPE #1
TYRONE PILLAY AND HIS NEW PROSTHESIS
I first met Tyrone at an event in Paris, where a young designer from ED² revealed her ideas for the Olympics and Paralympics Toyota outfits. Many ED² designers participated, proposing attractive designs for Toyota team T-shirts, polos, caps, and bags. As the winner of this design competition would have the opportunity to attend an internal Paralympians gathering event, I was with a young designer, Maren Brettschneider Lázaro, who had done her internship at ED².
TME created a voting system in the Start Your Impossible App, allowing Toyota employees to earn points and assist at the Paralympics in Paris. Maren's cool design was chosen for all the Toyota teams. Tyrone gave a speech at the event, introducing Maren to the audience. His speech, filled with his outgoing, audacious, and positive narrative, showcased his forward-thinking personality. He could connect with anyone instantly, and from that moment, I became one of his supporters.
Tyrone later told me that his prosthesis was broken and that the Gazoo Racing Europe team was creating a new one for him. Curious about why GR was helping a Paralympian, I asked Tyrone to connect me with the team. He informed me that the two people responsible for helping with his new prosthesis were also partially disabled, and I requested to speak with them.
We met online, and they explained how they were using their skills to create a bespoke racing sled. This sled, made from motorsports-inspired carbon fiber and components directly taken from TGR-E’s race cars, offers unparalleled body support. It allows the Paralympian to drive the sled accurately and efficiently transmit their energy into forward motion. Maurice, who has visual difficulties, has been pushing boundaries at TGR Europe. Despite being laughed at by friends and family when he expressed his desire to work in the racing car industry, Maurice has made his childhood dream come true. Now, he is responsible for most of the parasports equipment projects at TGR Europe, continuously innovating and advancing the needs of para-athletes.

パラ選手（南アフリカ）タイロンの義足
私が初めてタイロンに会ったのは、パリのイベントで、ED²デザイナーがオ リンピックとパラリンピックのトヨタチームのスポーツウエアのアイデアを 披露 した時でした。ED²のデザイナーも多数参加し、トヨタのチームTシャ ツ、ポロシャツ、キャップ、バッグなど、魅力的なデザインを提案しまし た。この デザインコンペティションの優勝者は、社内のパラリンピアンが集 まるイベ ントに参加できるため、私はED²で当時インターンをしていた若い デザイナー、マレン・ブレットシュナイダー・ラザロと一緒にパリに向かい ました。TMEは Start Your Impossible アプリで、デザインの人気投票を行 いました。このアプリでは、参加したトヨタ社員がクイズや与えられたタス クを完了したり、スポーツをすることで点数を稼ぎ、一番点数の高い社員が パリのパラリンピックに招待される権利を得ます。そして、この若々しい植 物をアーティスティックに表現したデザインが、トヨタの全チームで使われ ることになりました。
タイロンはそのイベントでスピーチを行い、聴衆にマ レンを紹介してくれました。彼のスピーチは、社交的、大胆かつポジティブ なメッセージと人生におけるヒントに満ち、彼の前向きで努力家な性格がよ く表れていました。どんな場面でも、誰とでも一瞬で心を通わせることがで きる、そんな魅力的なパーソナリティであることがスピーチからもよくわか り、その瞬間から、私は彼のサポーターの一人となりました。
昨年９月頃義足が壊れてしまい、現在、Gazoo racing Europe チームが彼の ために新しい義足を作っていると聞き、私は驚きました。TGR? なぜGRはパ ラリンピアンを支援しているのだろうか? 疑問に思った私は彼に、手伝って くれる Gazoo レーシングチームを紹介してくれるように頼みました。 そして、 彼の新しい義足を手伝っているエンジニアの2人も、部分的に障害 があると教えてくれました。私は彼らと話をしたいと思い、オンラインでお 会いしたのですが、モータースポーツにインスパイアされたカーボンファイ バーと、TGR‑E のレースカーから直接採取した部品を使って作られた特注の レーシング用スレッジや、タイロンのように壊れてしまった義足を作るた め、普段TGRで活躍しているスキルを使って実際何をしているのかについて 話してくれました。すでに他のパラ選手に提供しているスレッジのボディサ ポートは比類がなく、パラリンピアンがソリを正確に運転し、アスリートの エネルギーを前方の動きに効率的に伝達することを可能にしています。
この プロジェクトを率いるモーリスには視覚障害があり、TGRヨーロッパで自身 の可能性を押し広げてきた人物です。若い頃にレーシングカー業界で働きた いと言ったとき、友人や家族に笑われたそうです。でも実際に現在、彼は TGR Eで働いており、子供の頃の夢を叶え、今はパラスポーツ用品のプロ ジェクトを担当し、パラアスリートのニーズを革新し前進させ続けていま す。
